After observing how long it has
taken for many groups to adopt bar code and e-commerce technologies, it appeared
that something fundamental was wrong. The results of a significant study, based
on extensive contacts with dozens of associations and thousands of users,
indicated that since this technology was truly different from anything that had
been implemented industry-wide before, it needed a specialized approached. It
was apparent that an implementation method was necessary.
To develop a method, we analyzed the driving
components. Our method, this program, is based on our understanding of the three
components. Industry wide adoption takes Motivation, Know-how and On Going
Support. Quad II has developed a comprehensive program to address these
needs.
We propose to work with your association on an
Industry Adoption Program. The program incorporates what we have learned
about accelerating the adoption process. Working closely with your association
and a yet to be formed bar code committee, we will prepare a detailed Industry
Adoption Plan including a budget and one or more of the following elements:
Motivation
We will facilitate a blue ribbon panel of
industry leaders. Working with these industry leaders:

the results of a brief yet effective fact finding mission in order to identify
the business transactions which need to be served, the information content of
each (as it relates to bar code), any standards that may already be impacting
their business and the business benefits of bar code.

| Your members will get
an awareness program including ongoing information about association activity
and progress as well as motivational and informative articles and messages.

| Your members will get
a 3rd party influence campaign to spread the word in your industry and explain
why bar coding is good for the entire industry. |
Know-how
| Your members will get
industry-specific educational materials addressing different levels of
educational requirements distributed to them through your association.

| Your members will get
a variety of educational sessions held at your business and/or annual meetings
including handouts and workbooks.

| Your members will get
regional educational meetings as needed and supported by your association.
|
| Your members will get
educational sessions to teach them the steps to implement so that they can do it
on their own. Those following the program will have a written report telling
them precisely, in a step-wise fashion, how to implement and set the wheels in
motion. Without an implementation plan, getting started is difficult at best. |
Support
| Your members will get
answers to basic, fundamental but necessary questions through a help line
staffed by a Quad II expert. Experience has shown that expert advice is highly
valued by project team members.

| Your members will get
membership in an already established, one of a kind bar code and supply chain
user group called INSIGHT
at a reduced price. As an incentive, we will discount membership in INSIGHT for
all your members.

| Your members will get
another level of support if necessary. It is available to companies who, because
of staff or time constraints, may need expert assistance in implementation
planning. We can even arrange for individual consulting and design services.
