System Readiness and Needs Analysis

Many companies now supply computer and material handling systems that use bar codes and bar code printing and scanning equipment can be integrated into existing systems. Few have the general system.

Why? Companies using bar code or planning to should perform an audit to make sure that:

They are not wasting money labeling products that should be labeled by the supplier. And that they know how to get suppliers to comply with industry standards.
Systems that are in place are using the latest cost-cutting or time-saving improvements.
They have not or will not automate activities in receiving, shipping, inventory taking and accounting that, in fact, can be eliminated.
They know how to explain system or equipment needs to the bar code related system supplier.
They know how to make their staff, their company, their system and their trading partners (customers and suppliers) ready to use bar code and electronic commerce.
They know how to evaluate the capabilities of a perspective supplier of bar code related hardware, software or systems.
